We have had a wonderful time over the Summer Holidays working with a group of youngsters at Bright Park in Liverpool. This is a new one for us as the venue is outside!

It may be the holidays but here at Ariel Trust we are still working hard with some amazing young people during our Summer Workshops.

We recently completed our third trial of our new Key Stage 1 programme, ‘Telling Tales or Asking For Help?’

The best thing about working at the Ariel Trust is the children we work with. Each have different strengths and, although our aims and objectives remain consistent throughout, we can adapt our programme delivery to suit our different learners.

Here are the year 2 pupils from Dovecot Primary School receiving their Ariel Trust Certificate to celebrate the end of our 'Telling Tales or Asking for Help?' programme.

It is well documented that role play in the classroom is an excellent teaching strategy. Role play is defined as  ‘a learning technique where students act out real-life or hypothetical scenarios, taking on different roles and interacting with others to develop skills and understanding.

Having completed an enjoyable and rewarding project at St. Julie’s Catholic High School with some enthusiastic students, received encouraging feedback from their adults, and experienced a supportive and fun working environment with my new Ariel Trust colleagues, I am now looking forward to the start of our next project.

As a mum of two grown up sons, I can see how important the work that we do at The Ariel Trust is in enabling parents/carers to start difficult conversations with their child. I remember when my boys were younger, they would sometimes shy away from talking about 'feelings' and in the teenage years a grunt whilst munching cereal was the norm.

Ariel is currently developing a new programme, which builds on the current ‘Send me a Selfie’ resource.  This programme takes the narrative of the film to the next stage; imagining Megan has shared an image with Chris and that the Police

Ariel is small a registered charity and this post is unpaid but it is an important opportunity for anyone who would like to help guide the delivery of violence reduction education in 150 schools across Merseyside.
