A group of year 8 and 9 pupils were identified by Liverpool City Council’s Protect team as being vulnerable to criminal exploitation. However, this group of children were not considered at high enough risk for direct intervention by the Protect Team itself, leaving them and their school in a potentially dangerous limbo.
Ariel provided Knock at the Door resources and facilitation to empower and educate the group about the risks of online image sharing, and they made impressive progress over 10 sessions. Later in the year, one of the boys experienced an incident of sexual extortion via a social media platform and reported it directly to the National Crime Agency. The pupil explicitly referenced that the scenario they encountered was exactly the type of situation explored in the programme; and acknowledged that the content empowered them to act appropriately and safely.
