In order to extend the reach of our work with schools in North West England we have entered into a new partnership with Edge Hill University (EHU). Based in Lancashire the university trains teacher who are placed in primary schools across that county. We are working with Senior Lecturer Dr. Maggie Webster to offer trainee teachers access to our ‘Grassing or Grooming?’ resource. In addition we are providing them with professional training so that they can deliver enhanced role play activities in a classroom.
In exchange for our input this group of young teachers will deliver a new enhanced ‘Grassing or Grooming?’ programme of learning. As well as the 3 lessons that are delivered by our existing partner schools, this group will pilot the new role play activities that have been developed by our theatre practitioner group.
This enhanced programme of learning will then be evaluated with the support of Dr. Webster. By working in this way we intend to continually improve the impact that our violence reduction resources can have on children at risk from grooming. With the support of EHU we hope to make these educational resources available to schools across Lancashire.
