Re: Vodafone to work with West Berkshire Healthy Schools to roll out CyberSense E-safety resource FREE to all schools in West Berkshire

Due to the success of the CyberSense e-safety resource, the Big Lottery has provided additional funding to roll out free access in West Berkshire.  Charity Ariel Trust have recently run a successful pilot in West Berkshire, and felt that this would be a good opportunity to continue working with Vodafone and Healthy Schools and offer CyberSense FREE to all West Berkshire primary schools.

CyberSense has been designed to raise awareness of cyber-bullying. It provides children with the skills to recognise, respond to and report cyber-bullying, whilst promoting safe use of social media and the internet. The resource includes a range of interactive multi-media activities, covering important topics such as; self-esteem, peer pressure and the impact of gaming. It has been developed for use with Key Stage 2, years 5 and 6. The resource has been mapped to the primary curriculum, and also supports the new Ofsted Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare judgement.

The CyberSense resource has been used in over 300 Primary Schools in Merseyside, Derbyshire and Greater Manchester in the last year as part of the Big Lottery Realising Ambition project. Ariel Trust have also recently worked in partnership with Vodafone to pilot CyberSense in two West Berkshire schools, St Barts Secondary School and Willow Primary School.  Feedback from both staff and pupils has been very positive with schools happy to use the resource again.

“The kids loved the project and we will be more than happy to be involved in the future!” Alexandra Butler, Executive Headteacher, ‘The Willows Primary School’.

A training day will take place on Friday September 23rd between 10am-12pm, if you are interested in being involved in this exciting event; please email trish@arieltrust.com.

Ariel Trust will offer schools free access to the resource and staff development workshops to support schools with delivery of CyberSense within the classroom prior to this event.
