Fire Pack Helps Achieve Record A and A* Coursework
07 October 2008
A learning pack developed by Ariel Trust and currently being piloted in a Liverpool school has helped deliver record coursework success.
'Street Heat' was originally launched in 2007 as part of a PHSE resource and rolled out by school Fire Liaison Officers
St. John Bosco is using 'Street Heat' to deliver three pieces of GCSE English course work and the pack is having a positive effect. English teacher, Jaclyn Molyneux said, "I've never seen a group achieve so many A and A* results".
The school was so impressed that it is going to use the resource with all of its Year 9 pupils, around 200 in total. It means they will have completed three pieces of GCSE English course work before they even start Year 10.
Ariel Trust's Director Paul Ainsworth would like to see other schools use the pack to improve their coursework success . "We hope this project will enable St John Bosco to achieve more GCSE English passes at grade C than in previous years. We are very keen to speak to other schools who'd be interested in using the 'Street Heat' learning pack in a similar way".
